“The Pain Game” Live World Championship Boxing Watchalong

Challenge

The Pain Game is a live streamed boxing watch-along show available on YouTube, Twitter and as a picture in picture experience on DANZ PPV. Alex.Live was faced with the challenge of creating a simple yet effective graphics package to keep the viewer up to date with the boxing match, without being disruptive of the on screen discussion. Some of the graphic abilities The Pain Game needed were:

1) On-screen bug for show name and location.
2) Naming graphics to name talent.
3) Up Next graphics to tease fights coming up.
4) Fight Timer with rounds and fighter info. This one is especially important for allowing those watching on YouTube and Twitter to sync up our stream with the live broadcast of the fight.
5) Sponsor CTA's and QR Codes. These are important to be able to drive traffic to sponsors without disrupting the flow of the on screen conversation.

Solution

The Pain Game has a best in class graphics package for a modern watch-along experience. Those without access to boxing match footage are able to follow along with this alternative coverage of the match via panel commentary and on screen graphics. For those with access to the match footage, viewers have found the Timing Chip graphic helpful for syncing “The Pain Game” with their muted TVs so they can enjoy their preferred commentary from The Pain Game panel.

Results

Utilizing Singular, Alex.Live built a very simple, unobtrusive graphics package for The Pain Game. Drawing broad viewership from audiences both with and without access to boxing match footage, The Pain Game ticks all the boxes and more for a successful, modern watch-along experience.
