SIS has been at the forefront of live pictures and data delivery to the global betting industry for over 35 years, creating and distributing betting events for horse and greyhound racing while also offering over 150,000 round the clock esports events and over 300,000 live numbers draws annually.
Reliability, accuracy and speed are critical and with 400 online and retail customers in 50 countries the ability to scale significantly and effectively was increasingly paramount. Existing workflows that relied on traditional hardware based systems were not only cost prohibitive but provided limited scope to enhance feeds.
SIS was looking for a modern, resilient, cost-effective and customizable real-time graphics solution that could not only improve their graphics but reduce cost and offer scope for further development to future-proof their workflow.
SIS undertook a rigorous evaluation process that included Singular Composer to ensure that the in-house design team could recreate their required graphics in Singular quickly and effectively.
Working with the Singular team to accelerate their learning, the SIS team were soon able to build their custom graphics and seamlessly integrate live data and animations; essential for a service that would initially be delivering 30 concurrent graphic outputs 24/7, 365 days a year.
The second part of the evaluation focused on the reliability and resilience of the Singular platform. As what is effectively an ‘always live’ service, SIS had to be certain that they could rely on Singular.
The evaluation by the SIS team included several tests with large numbers of outputs and a heavy load of graphics and data spaced over multiple weeks and across months. The results of this testing confirmed that the Singular platform could be relied upon for SIS’ stringent requirements.
Following the successful evaluation, the SIS team went live and quickly scaled up to 30 distinct output channels all automated with live integrated data delivering a highly optimized production.
By adopting Singular, SIS simultaneously raised the quality of their production whilst also building in scalability and increased flexibility. In addition, by not choosing a hardware based graphics solution that could be operated from anywhere, they massively reduced the carbon footprint of their production workflow since travel and hardware are two of the largest contributors to the carbon footprint of live production. They also ensured that they weren’t locked into a graphics hardware dependency.
The combination of Singular’s SaaS model with SIS’ automated, data integrated workflow allows them to scale up for future events as required with the opportunity to further enhance their productions in the future with Singular’s Intelligent Overlays offering localization, personalization and interactivity.
