When undertaking a world record breaking attempt to run a sub 2 hour marathon, the team at Ineos knew that they needed to go the extra mile in their production as well. In addition to producing a world feed and dedicated broadcaster feeds, they also wanted to create a dedicated Ineos simulcast that would include a more engaging, interactive experience that gave the viewer key information at their fingertips.
Certified Singular Service Providers Reality Check Solutions were appointed to deliver both the world feed broadcast graphics and the bespoke interactive viewer experience. The overall production was being handled by another Certified Singular Service Provider; Sunset & Vine.
The unprecedented level of interactivity during a live sports event was made possible by Singular's revolutionary local rendering technology. The overlays rendered within the browser on each device it was viewed on, allowing every user to have their own customizable viewing experience.
The simulcast version was delivered to a dedicated Ineos OTT portal (https://www.ineos159challenge.com/) with interactive buttons that allowed viewers to see Kipchoge’s currency speed, the remaining time and distance, projected finish time as well as current weather conditions, social feeds and a live map displaying his position on the track.
While we can’t take credit for the record pace set by Kipchoge, we’re proud to have delivered our own ground breaking production to support his mission!
